Color density spectral array of bilateral bispectral index system: Electroencephalographic correlate in comatose patients with nonconvulsive status epilepticus  Miguel A. Hernández-Hernández, José L. Fig. 1 Fragment of 20s of scalp EEG (upper) with NCSE and view of the raw EEG of b-BIS by pictures of the screen and in pdf format (down). The epileptiform discharges had the same morphology in both device in patients 4 (a), 6 (b) and 11 (c) of the Table 1. Low filter: 0.53Hz; High filter: 35Hz; Notch filter: 50Hz. Sensitivity: 100μV/cm and; speed 15mm/s for conventional EEG. Fig. 2 Fragments of 30min of CDSA and BIS trend in cases 1 (a), 6 (b), 12 (c), 4 (d) and 9 (e) from Table 1. Observe that a white line into the graphic represents the SEF. Left panels (a–e) show NCSE pattern with evidence of dark red tones and SEF line in the low frequency band. BIS trend show great variability. In panel b, the arrow indicates the administration of a bolus of midazolam. Note as red tones disappear completely. Panel c and e show recurrence of “NCSE pattern”. Note the existence of periods of 5–10min in which dark red tones disappear and SEF line increase. Right panels (a′–e′) show “sedation pattern” in the same patients with midazolam or propofol infusion. Red tones are absent and orange, yellow, green and blue predominant under SEF line with BIS trend lower (<50) and stable.
