Conflict of Interest Disclosure I have no conflict of interest to report in relation to this presentation

The Controversy The paper and response Assessment/safety issues Whose affected?

What is I-to-I?

Core Drivers of I-to-I A need exists to recognize that: diet/exposure is but one step in achieving healthy nutritional status, and nutrition is a biological variable that serves as both an input and outcome to be considered as integral to all aspects of health promotion, disease prevention and treatment; and, The nature of the process for translation of research findings to evidence-informed programs and policies involves a connection of multiple steps, disciplines and data inputs.

Goal of I-to-I Through the engagement of the continuum of effort involved in the food, nutrition, environment and health enterprise, harmonize efforts to create, implement and sustain evidence-informed safe and efficacious interventions/policies.

Core Components of the I-to-I Colntinuum 1 Biology and Assessment 2 Interventions 3 Program: Roll-out/ scale-up 4 Stakeholder engagement

The Continuum of Effort Needed Basic biomedical/clinical/plant/animal science research to understand the nature and mechanism of problems related to CEC, disease, toxicology, and all aspect of human growth and development Knowledge Translation: Application of that knowledge to devise best practices in clinical assessment and surveillance to identify problems as they occur in individuals and populations Interventions: Development of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions (including sustainable food production practices for crops, fisheries etc.) and programs to address those problems in a sustainable (environmentally/economically), culturally and biologically relevant/efficacious manner. Implementation (roll-out/scale-up) involving the range of stakeholders at local/community, national (Ministries of Health/Economics and Agriculture) and global levels. Monitoring and evaluation of programs/policies and standards of care that allow for timely and appropriate change as needed. Data collected in these exercises must be used to give feedback and thereby creating a critical interconnecting and continuous loop to enable responsiveness to changes anywhere along the chain.

The Continuum: Evidence informed Interventions/programs and Policies:
