Apprenticeships

Higher and degree level apprenticeships Career degrees? A good opportunity to talk about the stereotypes surrounding the word ‘apprenticeships’. Would ‘degree apprenticeships’ be better labelled ‘career degrees’?

Aims and outcomes What we’ll achieve today Find out more about apprenticeships in general. Understand how to get onto an apprenticeship. Dispel popular myths about apprenticeships.

What are apprenticeships? A real job with a real salary and real training. For anyone 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays. Apprentices work towards achieving a qualification, earn while you learn. The minimum wage for apprentices is £3.50. This includes the first year of apprenticeship training no matter what age you are. After the first year National Minimum Wage applies.
