A state specialiced social services Centre WHAT IS A RECEPTION CENTER FOR REFUGEES (C.A.R.)? A state specialiced social services Centre SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE : Temporary board and lodging and emergency & primary social welfare GENERAL OBJECTIVE : To provide the new-comers with the opportunity to adjust life in Spain before living independently in the community.

WHERE ARE THE C.A.R. AND WHY? 1987 Alcobendas (80 pax) 1990 Vallecas ( 96 pax) Mislata (120 pax) 416 pax as a whole 1993 Seville (120 pax)

WHO CAN BE A RESIDENT? REQUIREMENTS : To be a foreigner, who has applied for asylum in Spain or is waiting to be admitted by a third State in application of the Dublin Covenant, a refugee or a displaced people. Lack of funds (both the families and the applicants) Be free from contagious disease in active phase nor mental disorder that prevents coexistence. Preference: vulnerable groups. Single-parent families or large families, handicaped people, seniors, people with health problem, single women.

HOW DO THEY ARRIVE? Ministry of Interior Ministry of Employment and Social Security Asylum and Refugee Bureau (OAR) General Secretariat of Inmigration & Emigration Social Work Unit General Directorate of Migrations Refugee Reception Centres (CAR)

HOW LONG DO THEY STAY? Ordinary stay: Six months staying (except if the asylum application has been solved unfavourably) Prolonged Stay: if necessary, their stay can be extended for other six months at the most.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF PUBLIC AWARENESS TO SPREAD THE KNOWING OF THE REALITY OF OUR BENEFICIARIES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION. TO PROMOTE VALUES OF TOLERANCE AND RESPECT FOR THE HUMAN RIGHTS AMONG THE SOCIETY AND THE RESIDENTS. Intercultural Rainbow Party
