Notice anything Unusual in class today? Before class - post a few pictures of M.C. Escher - around the room. Also change something prominent in the set up of the room from the usual set up. Ask them if they noticed - anything unusual today - or what caught their attention. Why do unusual things catch our attention? How do we respond to the unusual? Some feel threatened & want to destroy it - or run away from it

Why do unusual things catch our attention? Before class - post a few pictures of M.C. Escher - around the room. Also change something prominent in the set up of the room from the usual set up. Ask them if they noticed - anything unusual today - or what caught their attention. Why do unusual things catch our attention? How do we respond to the unusual? Some feel threatened & want to destroy it - or run away from it How do we usually respond to the unusual?

How might these questions relate to the picture? In the eyes of the world - We might seem a little unusual What are some things about LDS people that might seem unusual to the world?

Why don’t you drink beer or coffee? What do you mean you can’t date before 16? Why can’t you go to the movies on Sunday? How might these questions relate to the picture? In the eyes of the world - We might seem a little unusual

John 2 & 3 The First Passover of His Ministry Jesus found himself in a similar situation in John 2 & 3 It’s Passover time - He goes to Jerusalem & He sees some “unusual” things & some others find Him “unusual”. Jesus uses the “unusual” to teach some lessons.

SEES SOME UNUSUAL THINGS SOME FIND HIM UNUSUAL USES THE UNUSUAL TO TEACH SOME LESSONS

Complete the Worksheet Points to Consider What Principle is Jesus teaching? How would it help someone unfamiliar with the gospel? John 2 & 3 Complete the Worksheet

John 2 What was Christ “zealous” about? How did He use the “Temple” to teach about the Atonement?

John 3 Why come so late at night? Who was Nicodemus? A “ruler of the Jews,” member of the Sanhedrin Some points to bring up: Who is Nicodemus? Why is he there? Why is he there at that hour? And why has he come to see Jesus? Interested in the gospel - but little afraid to be “unusual” Christ was the perfect teacher, the perfect missionary. By studying John 3 we can learn how to teach the gospel better. Keep these things in mind as we watch the next video segment - 5:40 min. After the Video - Levels of being born again - & choosing to be changed. Why come so late at night? Interested in the gospel but a little afraid to be unusual

How was Christ the perfect teacher? John 3 How did he use the image of a Baby to teach Nicodemus? How does the Wind fit into this? Why bring up Snakes? What does He want us to understand about Light? Keep these things in mind as we watch the next video segment - 5:40 min. After the Video - Levels of being born again - & choosing to be changed. How was Christ the perfect teacher?
