Each year our walks and runs are held throughout Wisconsin to celebrate those who have battled cancer, educate the community about ways to reduce the risk, and empower communities to join the fight. The American Cancer Society recommends including at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity in your schedule five or more days a week. American Cancer Society Sole Burner events can help your employees get there together. Every year more than 580,000 Americans die from cancer and one-third of these deaths are tied to poor diet and physical inactivity. The American Cancer Society Sole Burner’s help emphasize the importance of physical activity in reducing your risk, while bringing the community together to honor those they have lost to the disease. Sole Burner Walk/Run The Sole Burner Walk/Run is one of Wisconsin's’ largest annual 5k Walk/Run of its kind held at the Warner Park in Madison, and will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The event gathers together more than 600 participants who fundraise more than $60,000 for the fight against cancer. Companies are encouraged to participate in either a timed 5K run, or a self-timed 5K walk. This family friendly event includes kids activities and a kid’s fun run. Resource groups can form a team and fundraise for the American Cancer Society, volunteer on event day, join the event committee or bring your family on race day to join in on the fun. To register please visit www.soleburner.org/Madison or contact Miranda Knudson at 608.662.7546 or via email at miranda.knudson@cancer.org
