Living Things An organism is another name for a living thing Living things are made of cells There are 7 characteristics of living things

Nutrition Nutrition is the way in which living things get and use their food Nutrition is not the same for all living things

Respiration Respiration is the way living things get energy Food + oxygen  energy + carbon dioxide + water

Excretion Excretion is the getting of rid of wastes that are made in the cells

Growth All living things grow Growth results from cells dividing

Reproduction Reproduction is being able to produce new individuals of the same kind

Movement All living things can move Plants can only move certain parts e.g. petals can open and close

Response Response is the ability to react to changes in the environment

Anything Alive Not Alive Plant Animal Vertebrate (backbone) Invertebrate (no backbone)
