Who am I? Psalm 8

1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth 1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!     Your glory is higher than the heavens. 2 You have taught children and infants     to tell of your strength, [to give you praise] silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. 3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers -     the moon and the stars you set in place - 4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, [are mindful of]     human beings that you should care for them? 5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God [divine beings, gods, angels]     and crowned them with glory and honour. 6 You gave them charge of everything you made,     putting all things under their authority - 7 the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, 8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,     and everything that swims the ocean currents. 9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Would you like a name that reflects your true nature at this time of your life? What name would you like to be known by now? What is it that evokes the praise of God here? Glory of Creation “When I consider your heavens and see the work of your fingers…”

Glory of Creation What is man? What are mere mortals, human beings…? 3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers -     the moon and the stars you set in place - 4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, [are mindful of] , human beings that you should care for them? What is man? What are mere mortals, human beings…? Who am I? Why am I here? Can you answer those questions for yourself today?

Statue of King Hadad-yisi… a life-size statue with inscription “in the image and likeness” of the King, who lived in ninth century, discovered by Syrian farmer in 1979 while plowing his field. Only known use of those words together outside the Bible.
