Governor’s January Budget The Governor proposes only funding the critical health and safety needs from Prop 51 state facility bonds at this time He would like legislation to pass tighter bond audit strategies before issuing the remaining bonds It looks like COS would receive funds for Basic Skills Building in 2018-19, instead of 2017 PERS/STRS increased costs for 2017-18 = $618,000 (already budgeted in advance!) If the District chooses to fund 2018-19 increased costs in advance, would = $621,000 cost To quote: “The years of seeing significant increases in Prop 98 are likely behind us.” State is starting to prepare for “when the next recession occurs”.

Enrollment Planning - FTES District Administration is considering attempting to reach the 10,000 FTES mark in 2017-18, as COS is closer than expected. We hope this can be accomplished by: “pushing” summer 2017 session 2 (appx 265 FTES) into 2017-18 “pulling” summer 2018 session 3 (appx 180 FTES) into 2017-18 COS anticipates 9750 FTES in 2017-18 on the natural 9750 + 265 + 180 = 10,195 FTES planned 2017-18
