Prayers Starting prayer Multi faith prayer: http://sairegion3.org/multi-faith-prayers/

Recap Practice from last week Recap activity from last week Separate Internal and External Distractions Activity Time

DISTRACTIONS You might be easily distractible but may not even understand what the distractions are or that you are, in fact, distracted.  You just feel the frustration of failure and disappointment. The first step is separation of External distractions and Internal distractions.

Activity summary (1/14 class): Top distractions identified by children, reason they distract and we discussed how to avoid them. Distractions Reason in impacts How to avoid Phones\Devices\Media Unable to complete work on time Keep the devices away to stay focused on goal Food\Hunger Cannot focus Do not over or under eat People\Friends\Social network Trying to impress others and talking too much Always remind yourself of the goal. Only one to impress is SWAMI Fears Fear of failure Do not focus on result, but give 100% effort. Curiosity Side track from work Remind yourself of the goal and tell you will come back to it or write down in your to do list for later.

Internal distractions These are harder to manage. Identifying is a big win. These are the thoughts in our heads, the beliefs that have been created over past disappointments, fear, and anxiety.  The brain is made for thinking, it can be your strength or weakness! Internal Distractions Impact How to avoid Fears Fear of failure Do not focus on result, but give 100% effort. Curiosity Side track from work Remind yourself of the goal and tell you will come back to it or write down in your to do list for later.

Activity Time (2/4/18) Mindful meditation Lets stay in current moment and see how long we can stay focused Lets us focus on Swami with eyes closed and use help of video to stay focused. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pwMRX-3UQ8

Activity Time (2/4/18) Manage Internal Distractions: Mindful meditation: Let’s do it 2min everyday to focus on Swami and notice thoughts that distract but not go away with them. Strengths: Learning how to use strengths can help build self confidence which leads to better focus Being Positive: Set small goals and reinforce on your wins than failures. Learn to notice: Identify when you are off task. Have a word to remind yourself to comeback. I can do this: Believe in yourself. If you think I can’t do it, your never going to be able to.
