geography: the study of Earth and its features

location: where a place is

place: physical features and human activity of a location

movement movement: ways in which people, goods, and information move from place to place

region: areas that have certain features in common

map: a drawing that shows where places are located

physical map: a map showing landforms and water bodies on the Earth

globe: a model of the Earth

boundary boundary: a line that divides one particular area from another (e.g. city state, country, etc.)

coastline coastline: as an outline, boundary, or shape of a coast that borders a large body of water

neighborhood: people living near each other

community: a place made up of many neighborhoods

urban: city where many people live and work

suburban: area located near a city with more living space

rural rural: area of small towns that are far apart; lots of land and open space

border: a line that divides one state or country form another

climate: weather in a place over a long period of time

natural resource: useful materials that come from the earth
