Solving Word Problems with Proportions.   Solving Word Problems with Proportions. Example 1: Jon made 34 cookies in 2 hours. How many cookies can he make in 13 hours?     Put each ratio in a proportion. Make sure the measurements are in the same position in the proportion. In this proportion cookies are on top and hours are on bottom.

Example 2: Ryan can run 5 miles in 1.45 hours. How long will it take him to run 7 miles?   2.03 hours

86 jumps (rounded to nearest whole number.) Example 3: Gina can jump 70 times in 45 seconds. How many jumps will she make in 55 seconds?   86 jumps (rounded to nearest whole number.)

Practice 1). Greg uses 3 tbsp. of chocolate chips for 2 muffins. How many chocolate chips will he need for 5 muffins? 2). Larry walks 1.3 miles in 0.45 hour.
