NEWS BROADCAST PROJECT BUSINESS REPORT

Project Requirements 1. Video Clip (5-7 minutes) - Each group will use a video camera or the camera on a phone to create the video. The project will replicate a business news broadcast. 2. Essay (500 words for per student). Each student will write the essay on the two (2) companies they are reporting on the news. See the template with two (2) separate reports. 3. Share-out the videos (Required to share video with the class or NO CREDIT.)

Business Report (Video) - It will require four (4) students per group Business Report (Video) - It will require four (4) students per group. - The news will be based on eight (8) different corporations from different sectors. - Each student will do two (2) companies. The report will require an essay. It will have the company’s recent and future earnings. It will also have other important news and data regarding the company.

Important Company Data 1. Recent company news. 2 Important Company Data 1. Recent company news. 2. Recent quarterly earnings. 3. Stock Broker’s recent recommendation on the company’s stocks. 4. The 52 weeks Hi/Low stock price of the company with one year chart of the stock 5. Dividends (use company with dividends) & Price per Earnings (P/E)

Time Management - Each group must create a video clip that is at least 5-7 minutes. Anything below 5 minutes or above 7 minutes will result in getting points subtracted. *Make sure to use a timer to stay within the timeframe.

It will require the student to only read key points from their essay to stay within the time frame.

Suggestion Watch various nightly news to get an idea of the format used in presenting the news.

Introduction The introductory paragraph is the thesis statement (the sentence that states the main idea). It tells the reader what the essay is about. The last sentence of this paragraph must also contain a transitional "hook" which moves the reader to the first paragraph of the body of the paper. Body The supporting paragraphs to your introduction paragraph and to your thesis statement. Conclusion Restate the main idea of your essay, or your thesis statement. Summarize the three sub-points of your essay.

Use a tripod or holder to prevent your phone or camera from moving. - Oral Presentation = 300 Points (Use 4-5 index cards, loud, clear) - Physical Presentation = 100 Points (Dress-up, neat, & clean to portray professionalism) - Visuals = 100 Points Charts, Graphs, Pictures
