ADVERTISING

YOU TUBE 1. YouTube - T Mobile Advert Hey Jude in Trafalgar Square [TV Ad from 2nd May 2009] 2. YouTube - Cadbury's Gorilla Advert Aug 31st 2007

WHY ADVERTISE? Purpose - Target Market - Form -

Presentational devices to consider: Pictures Color Captions Headings Subheadings – LANGUAGE being used! Logos Bold/underlining/italics Fonts Bullets/numbers

Task: In groups of four/five you will be given an advertisement which you will need to analyze; comment on purpose, target market and format as well as presentational devices. You have 15 minutes to prepare a presentation in which you will give to the rest of the class. This will be evaluated by myself and Miss Ware.

You WILL NOT get marks for just describing language, structure, form, or presentational devices. You WILL get marks for explaining the purpose or effect of these. For example: If you were given an advert for a Range Rover car, you would get no marks for saying that the car is pictured on the edge of cliff with a storm breaking out to sea. What? Where? Why? How?
