Describing False Teachers (6:3-5) 3 “If anyone teaches otherwise & does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, & to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes & arguments over words, from which come envy, strife [fighting], reviling [cruel words], evil suspicions [evil thoughts], 5 useless wranglings [bitter talk] of men of corrupt minds & destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Phil 4:11 – I have learned in whatever state...content Ecc 5:10 – He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase (cf. 5:11-12; 2:18-19). Psa 16:11 – You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore
Do Not Covet Financial Reward (6:6-10) 9 “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation & a snare, & into many foolish & harmful lusts which drown men in destruction & perdition. 10 For THE LOVE OF MONEY is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, & pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
