Comparing Britain & Canada Main Task Britain Canada British and Canadian soldiers fought alongside each other in many battles, including D-Day.

Comparing Britain & Canada Main Task Use the information at the bottom of the page to complete one of the following SOLO tasks. Sort out the facts into a Venn Diagram. Information that only refers to Britain/Canada should go on the left/right, whilst information that refers to both countries should go in the middle. Write three paragraphs to explain the similarities and differences between the British and Canadian contributions to WW2. You should use these facts as evidence. British and Canadian soldiers fought alongside each other in many battles, including D-Day. Allied spies were trained at Camp X. Rationing was put in place to make sure people did not waste food or other resources. People were evacuated from cities that were under threat of bombing in the blitz. There was a large, French-speaking group that did not support the war effort. The Home Guard had volunteers to protect people in the cities. Women began to work in many jobs that were typically “male” occupations. Conscription was a way to force people into serving in the military. All resources, human and otherwise, were directed to fuel the war effort.
