About Mrs. Lilly Atlanta is my home town Holy Innocents for High School Vanderbilt University Double major in Elementary Education and Psychology 15th year at New Prospect Enjoy sports, NASCAR, Tennis and Tennessee/Vanderbilt Football I have a daughter, her name is Reagan and she is 2 ½ year olds

About Mrs. Flaherty Moved to Atlanta from Ohio Wright State University for undergrad school Grand Canyon University for grad school 10th year of teaching-4th at NPES Enjoys watching and playing sports- Buckeyes and Bills I have a 6 month old daughter named Mckinley

About Mr. Williams Grew up in Forsyth County Elementary Education Degree; Certifications in Special Education, ESOL, and Gifted Endorsed 4th year teaching; 2nd at NPES I love to eat Married for 13 years and 3 kids (11 yrs old, 4 yrs old, and 3 yrs old)

Reading Lucy Calkins Units of Study Incorporate reading into all areas of learning Master reading strategies to use with all styles of books (character development, theme, etc)

Reading (cont’d.) Cold Read Tests will be given every other week – Two reading passages with questions correlated to what we have been going over in class Novel Studies- Students will be placed on groups throughout the year to read novels based on their reading level/ interest

5th Grade expectations Become more organized Learn Study Skills Home work is to review content discussed in class; please let us know if you have any questions about assignments If they “don’t have any homework” they should be reading every night, reviewing concepts or watching videos on Brainpop about the units they are studying—check out the weebly website for resources Responsibility Respect for all

Binders Each subject area, agendas, blue folders, notes, important information, etc. Assignments are written 2 weeks in advance Homework written in every Monday Study materials for tests Reading logs

Grading Scale Tests- 40% Quizzes – 30% Classwork – 20% Participation- 5% Homework Average- 5% IF a student fails a test, they are able to retake the test for up to 80% grade on the retake All Tests and quizzes are sent home in the Blue Folder please check it and SIGN AND RETURN THE PAPERS.

Schedule Morning time 7:10- :45 Period 1: 7:50 – 9:00 (BIRTHDAY TREATS) RECESS: 9:00 – 9:25 Period 2: 9:30 – 10:40 Period 3: 10:40 – 11:45 LUNCH 11:50 – 12:20 SPECIALS 12:25 – 1:10 Period 4: 1:10 – 2:15 Study Hall/ Dismissal 2:15 -2:25
