Partnership between School and Home Working together is vital for your child’s progress this year. Parents’ support at home is a vital element which makes a huge difference to your child’s progress during the year. Please ensure your child gets enough sleep and comes to school… ‘ready to learn’! Please spend some time reading with and to your child thus encouraging the importance and enjoyment of reading! In school we will recognise all children’s efforts in our new reading reward scheme. Please encourage your child to complete their home work regularly and on time.

How can I help my child? Reading, reading, reading! (It doesn’t have to be a school book) Reading a book to your child is also very beneficial Rehearsing spellings / sounds in fun ways e.g. letters /games, ipad /computer games Maths target booklet Reciting times tables-tested on Fridays

SATS Tested in maths and English (reading and spelling, punctuation and grammar). SATs aren’t about passing or failing, but are used to reflect the level your child is working to. So SATs should never be seen as a one-off period in the school calendar but as a part of the overall teaching your child receives.

Maths is all around us… Place value, number bonds, times tables, fluency, counting on and backwards 5 and 6 digit numbers, problem solving (Support practise using MyMaths and IXL websites online) Tables – recite multiplication tables facts wherever you are! Being able to recite the table forwards and backwards, answer random questions. Parent information evening
