Presentation transcript:

Lesson 6.1 How do you find ratios and unit rates? To write a ratio, you make a fraction comparing the two numbers. Put the ratio in simplest form by reducing. To find a unit rate, divide the numerator and the denominator by the denominator.

Lesson 6.2 – 6.3 How do you write and solve proportions? To write a proportion, you set two ratios equal to each other. You will use cross products to set up an equation.

Lesson 6.4 How do you identify similar and congruent figures? Similar figures Check to see if they have the same shape. Check that corresponding angles are congruent. Check that corresponding sides are proportional. Congruent figures Same shape. Check that corresponding sides are congrunet.

Lesson 6.5 How do you find unknown side lengths of similar figures? Write a proportion setting corresponding sides lengths ratios equal to each other.

Lesson 6.6 How do you solve problems involving scales? Set up a proportion using: 𝑆𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝑀𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑀𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒 = 𝑆𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 Solve the proportion using cross products

Lesson 6.7 How do you find the probability of an event? The probability of an event when all the outcomes are equally likely is: 𝑃 event = Number of favorable outcomes Number of possible outcomes

Lesson 6.8 How do you use the counting principle to find probabilities? Use the multiplication principle to find the total number of outcomes. Put the number of favorable outcomes over the total outcomes.
