Good morning! Please take out your notebook and pick up a play packet! Learning Target: Describe characters and key plot details from Act I (you don’t have to re-copy this for today!) 7 Nov. 2013 “The American dream, to me, means having the opportunity to achieve, because I don't think you should be guaranteed anything other than opportunity.” ~Lenny Wilkens

Agenda 11/7/13 Continue reading Act I! Homework: SURPRISE! Journal Write #1 due at the beginning of class TUESDAY (1-2 pages typed up, 12 pt font, MLA) Great Googly Moogly! If you did not turn in your online reflection and/or your shared doc with me, do that ASAP! Those zeros are in the grade book…you have until THIS FRIDAY to get the work done and to me without penalty!

Bellwork 11/7/13 What are your first impressions of the play? Which character is most interesting to you so far and why? What questions to you have about what’s going on?

In your groups: Cast the play-who’s taking which roles? (You can split up the work and swap roles mid-day, too) Even if you’re not speaking, you should be following along with the group as the reading is happening! Record observations about the characters including notes about their personalities, actions, and histories in your notebooks as you read/listen Record answers in your notebooks to the questions on the bottom of the pages. Raise your hand to ask a question if something is unclear

Wrap Up Make a specific claim about each character- what are they like? Willy Linda Biff Happy Write a 2-3 sentence plot summary about what’s happening.
