Presentation transcript:

Welcome! August 15th, 2017 Tuesday Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Tuesday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to guess the meaning of the word. Make sure you explain your thinking! Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

Read the following sentence and guess the meaning of the word auspicious based on the context. Although she declined his request to dance, her auspicious smile encouraged him to ask again later. If something is auspicious, it is showing or suggesting that future success is likely. © Presto Plans

The Sky Tree – A Huron Tribe Myth Today, we’re going to read another creation myth together from the Eastern Huron tribe. As we read, underline anything that reminds you of the creation myth we read yesterday (“The World on Turtle’s Back”) or any other creation myth you’re familiar with. Underline at least three connections and explain your thoughts in the margins.

The Sky Tree – connecting to creation myths We’re going to watch four short videos about creation stories from the four biggest religions in the world – Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hindu. As we watch, keep track of the similarities between “Sky Tree” and the other creation myths. In the chart, write at least one major similarity and one major difference between each myth and “Sky Tree.”
