Laughter Yoga for Stress Busting Let’s Do Laughter Yoga Perform a typical LY session: General explanations: LY was started in India by cardiologist Madan Kataria in 1995 – LY combines laughter exercises with yogic breathing – purpose to increase oxygen to the body and brain LY offers many health benefits: Releases endorphins Reduces Stress Decreases blood pressure Boosts immune system Elevates mood Increases oxygen in blood Increases pain tolerance LY is using SIMULATED laughter + eye contact + childlike (not childish) playfulness to create natural laughter The body needs 20 minutes of continuous laughter to get the mental health benefits Rules No new pain Limit talking Sit or stand – your choice Look at each other in the eyes
