Creating a Relative Frequency Table: Jenna asked 40 randomly selected students whether they preferred dogs, cats or other pets. Complete the table for both decimals and percents Preferred Pet Dog Cat Other Total Frequency 18 12 10 40 Relative Frequency Decimals Relative Frequency Percents 18 40 12 40 10 40 40 40 = .45 = .30 = .25 = 1.00 45% 30% 25% 100%
Creating a Two-Way Frequency Table: Jenna also recorded the gender of each student. The results are shown in the two-way frequency table. Find the totals and answer the questions. Let’s Make a Relative Two-Way Frequency Table Preferred Pet None Dog Cat Other Total Boys Girls Totals
Get with a partner… You and you’re partner will come up with a survey question that has two different parameters (cannot use one from today’s examples) One you have the question, tell Ms. Taylor what is and then survey the entire class.
What are good questions? Good questions have more than one choice. (chocolate vs. vanilla ice cream, boys vs. girls) They do not have vague answers (what is your favorite color)
This is what you have to do… With a partner come up with a question. Survey the entire class (don’t forget Ms. Taylor!) Create a two-way frequency table. Create a relative two-way frequency table. Come up with at least three questions that go along with your data. (like the ones from the video.) Write everything on a colored piece of paper, put both of your names on it and the answers to the questions on the back of the paper. When done, hand it into the basket, pick up the worksheet
