Topographic maps Stem lab LO: Students will explore how to create a topographic map Do Now: Take out a piece of paper. With the people around you draw how the desks looked on day one of school. DO NOT TOUCH ANY MATERIALS ON YOUR DESK!!!!!!

What is a stem lab? STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. You will be designing your own experiment. This is a low stakes assessment have fun and try your best! You must attempt to fill out all of the paper to receive full credit!!!

Topographic maps slight intro Topographic maps show elevation. Today you will be trying to create a map with the materials in front of you! Some tips to remember: Planning phase: Before you do anything you and your partners must come up with a plan. Start by making a hypothesis of what you think is the best course of action or what you think the materials will be used for or what you think you will be doing. Remember there is a material section, you should write that down right away! Assign roles to each member. If you have 4 people in your group the roles are: (if you have 3, do 1,2,3) Recorder 2. The doer 3.The timer 4. Accurate and consistent checker List your procedures first BEFORE you preform your experiment After you complete your experiment do 4 and 5! Have fun with it!!!
