Request – asking someone to do something for you Permission – asking someone to allow you to do something You have to miss the next class. You want to borrow money from a friend. You want to use your cell phone in class. You didn’t bring a pen to class and you need to borrow one. You want Prof. G to help you with something. You want to know if it is ok to take pictures at a famous museum.

Request – asking someone to do something for you Can you (please) ___V___? Could you (please) ___V___? Would you (please) ___V___? Would you mind _____V(ing)_____?

Request – asking someone to do something for you Can you please lend me a pen? Could you please lend me a pen? Would you please lend me a pen? Would you mind lending me a pen? Can you (please) ___V___? Could you (please) ___V___? Would you (please) ___V___? Would you mind ___V(ing)_?
