Jock Itch on the Male Organ: Signs, Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment

An itchy member is no fun. In fact, it often causes discomfort and embarrassment. A common cause of this angry member itch is jock itch. Jock itch on the male organ doesn’t just affect jocks. So even if a man is a pencil pusher or a Halo hero, he can get it. This harmless, though very contagious skin infection passes easily from person-to-person so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for its symptoms and also, practice some prevention to keep it at bay. Here’s everything a man ever wanted to know about jock itch.

What is Jock Itch on the Male Organ? Jock itch is a fungal infection in the skin of the Privates, inner thighs, and buttocks.

Jock Itch: Signs and Symptoms Jock itch, also known by its fancy Latin name, tinea cruris. It is a highly contagious skin infection caused by a fungus-like yeast or mold and is a type of ringworm. It is often recognized by its unique ring-shaped rash. Jock itch loves to live in warm, moist places. People who share clothing, towels, exercise equipment, or interact intimately with someone who has jock itch has a very high probability of contracting jock itch.

If a man has one of the symptoms below, it’s likely he has jock itch: A red, circular rash that has raised edges and can be a bit scaly. It will look a lot like ringworm because it is part of the same family. Cracking, flaking, or peeling skin. The rash site will be itchy and potentially burn as well. The rash may get worse with exercise. The rash will not respond to anti-itch creams

Risk Factors for Jock Itch on the Male Organ There are some things that put a man at greater risk for contracting jock itch on the male organ. Here are a few of the most common: Profuse sweating Being overweight Having a weak immune system Having diabetes Wearing tight clothes or underwear Being in the “teenage” years Any man who has a few of these risk factors should monitor the area routinely and use the preventative tips listed below.

Treatment of Jock Itch on the Male Organ Don’t try and have a staring contest with jock itch. This itchy member is not going to just go away; it’s been known to stick around for months. However, despite its persistence, it’s pretty easy to treat. Use an over- the-counter antifungal as directed and it will clear up in a week or two. Be sure to keep the area clean and dry to promote faster healing. See a doctor if things haven’t cleared up in a few weeks after starting the antifungal.

Jock Itch: Preventative Care The best-case scenario is one where jock itch is prevented in the first place. There are the obvious things a man can do to lower his risk factors such as maintain a healthy weight and bolster his immune system with healthy eating, good sleep, and quality supplements. For men who sweat a lot, be sure to wear moisture-wicking clothes whenever possible and use a laundry detergent especially for athletes. The best way to ensure that jock itch on the male organ isn’t a problem is to practice good grooming, especially in the Private area. Wash the groin area daily with a mild cleanser and warm water, being sure to thoroughly clean around the foreskin, testicles, and inner thigh area. After washing, meticulously dry the groin area to reduce the moisture which attracts bacteria.

Once the male organ is clean and dry, apply a specially formulated male organ health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) to the male organ and Private area. Use a moisturizer that contains natural emollients like Shea butter and vitamin E which lock in moisture and keep skin healthy and hydrated. Also, look for lotions with nutrients like vitamin A, which is an antibacterial agent and prevents bacteria and fungus from thriving in this warm and dark area.Man 1 Man Oil
