America Enters the War Let’s go kick some butt!

Germany looks very strong Germany occupies most of Europe in 1942 They are beginning to head into the Soviet Union Note, Hitler has broken his alliance with the Soviet Union

Japan Japan is taking over most of the South Pacific.

America We get revenge on the Japanese In June 1942 we win the Battle of Midway We sink four Japanese aircraft carriers This hurts Japan’s efforts to further take over South Pacific countries.

North Africa Next, we moved our troops to North Africa We win victories and occupy Morocco and Algeria

Italy Next, we move to Italy. By the time we get there, Italy is ready to side with the Allies. (America and Britain) We march into Rome in 1944 and free it from Nazi control.

Things are moving along Now, America is looking for another invasion The plan is to invade Europe from the West Stalin, (Soviet Union) would push the Germans from the East

This is going to be big By June of 1944, 3 million men are stationed in England, ready to invade They are under the leadership of Dwight Eisenhower. On June 6, 1944, things go down

D-Day On June 6 we land at Normandy France We take 4,000 boats. It is a terribly bloody battle, but the Allies are victorious. They keep pushing into France In August of 1944, they have freed France of Nazi control.
