The Revolution In February 1986--Corazon “Cory” Aquino, Ninoy’s widow, runs and defeats Marcos in a special presidential election. Marcos refuses to give up power and the “People’s Power” Revolution ensues.

Feb 1986, Cory Aquino is put into power as the “People Power” revolution unfolds.

1986-1990. Six coups are attempted and put down.

1991 Mount Pinatubo erupts causing much devastation in Central Luzon.

In 1992 Fidel Ramos is elected President of the Philippines In 1992 Fidel Ramos is elected President of the Philippines. Ramos had helped Cory Aquino against Marcos in 1986

In fall of 1992 Subic Bay Naval Base is turned over to the Philippines by the United States. This ends U.S. military occupation in the Philippines.

He held several mistresses and was not a good president. 2000 Estrada impeached for corruption 2001 Estrada steps down
