Eric Lafforgue This is Eric Lafforgue’s image from his North Korean series. I think it really shows the way North Korea tries to portray uniformity, perfection and power to the rest of the world. I like the way the dark background highlights her pale face, but doesn’t draw too much attention away from the uniform and smaller details. My first attempt recreations

My Photoshopped final piece To create this I first asked Jesse to wear a borrowed costume from the drama department, then filled the background in black, coloured the shadow left behind, overlaid the white paint and lowered the opacity to make his skin lighter. I also used the eyedropper to get the colour so I could get rid of the stains on the jacket and touch up his face.

Eric Lafforgue Eric Lafforgue, his images are from a series that he took illegally in North Korea starting in 2008, showing the military impact and propaganda that is forced onto the people in North Korea. Eric Lafforgue managed to enter North Korea six times and was made to delete a lot of his pictures due to the way people could misinterpret them. A lot of his images were deleted because the paranoia in North Korea is ridiculous, anything with the military resting, the poor, bad infrastructure, showing wealth, officials, even untidy clothing. My first attempt recreations

More first attempts…

My failed attempts: For my very first attempt I changed the camera settings to 1/15 shutter speed, ISO 100 and F16, but this was too dark because there was no direct sunlight. For my third and fourth attempts I used shutter speed ¼, F16 and auto ISO but this was too blurred. For the rest I used 1/8 shutter speed, F16 and auto ISO.

My final piece To create this I had to borrow a camera and tripod, then go to my Dad’s farm, change the camera settings to match John Einar Sandvand’s, from when he took the picture. Although I had to change the ISO to auto, as it was too dark and I used 1/8 shutter speed, as the camera was shaking, even with the tripod, so any slower made the image look blurred.

John Einar Sandvand This image is from John Einar Sandvand’s Autumn Fields project in which he took several landscape photos of farmland around where he lives in Norway, not too far from Oslo. He used a polar filter which reduces reflections and brings out more of the colours in blue and green. The ISO is 100 – and the aperture f/16 to give good depth of field. It is an HDR photo that can use one of five exposures: 1/30 sec, 1/15 sec, 1/8 sec, 1/4 sec and 1/2 sec.
