What’s happening? #THISCOULDCHANGE

-This session will be recorded and distributed for learning purposes.  -Learning purposes include: a lesson review for students who are absent, students who want to review for a test, etc…

What is the goal here?

Don’t forget the vocabulary… #downloadnow 3.01 (1) 1 You should be looking for this vocabulary throughout the modules and in the novel.

LORD OF THE FLIES CHAPTERS 1-2

Class is going to work a little differently for this unit… There will be three rooms: 1 (main room). You can choose this room if you want to read the story with a teacher. You can participate in reading aloud, or just listen along. Discussion will take place on a microphone and in chat. 2. You can choose this room if you want to listen to the audiobook. A teacher will be available for questions. Discussion will take place on a microphone and in chat. 3. You can choose this room if you want to read on your own. A teacher will be available for questions. Discussion will take place on the microphones only. IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENTIVE IN ROOM 2 OR 3 YOU WILL BE MOVED TO ROOM 1.

What about the module work on my plan? ALL MODULE WORK IS HOMEWORK! Since we are reading the novel/discussing in class, you will be responsible for completing the assigned modules after you have read the chapters/completed your reading logs. You must PAY ATTENTION to the calendar provided. You will be responsible for all quizzes and the final test, but you will not be required to complete any discussions as we will be discussing in class. Additionally, some assignments may not be required, while others will be added. It is up to you to keep up with what is due.

Is that all? Not quite. You will have a running reading log for each chapter. Each log will have a one-sentence summary of the chapter, and you will also choose and answer ONE question (there will be three options for each chapter). The reading logs will be due in two parts Chapters 1-6 due May 8th (30 points) Chapters 7-12 due May 19th (30 points) You also will have a running character chart. This will not be for a grade, but the more that you fill out, the easier your last assignment will be (dun dun dunnnnn).

Is this book boring? Let’s see what you think of the premise… https://safeshare.tv/x/IZiF1GSvXTw

Write one paragraph about how you would initially feel/what you would do in this situation. Send it to your teacher when finished (5 MINUTES) The war on terror has escalated and fighting has reached the eastern boarder of Nevada. Adults in Nevada feel that they must protect future generations (you). You and your classmates are being sent away via plane to save you from death in case Nevada is bombed. You know some of the people on the plane, but not all of them. Suddenly, your plane is struck and goes plummeting to the ground. You have survived the crash and others have emerged from the plane, but you don’t recognize your surroundings. There are no houses or buildings anywhere. Standing on the sand, all you can see are trees in front of you and ocean on all sides.

Since you are super interested – let’s jump right in! Before we start reading each day, you will need: Your book Your reading log Your sense of adventure
