We need strategic direction instead of the current piecemeal approach at the national and state levels. The institutions that educate the nation’s future health-care professionals must work together to devise innovative solutions to the myriad challenges we face – and must finance them, too. Source: The Chronicle Review – November 2, 2007 Goal To establish a system-wide health care workforce development approach to address health professions shortages Strategies Focus on increasing and improving the diverse pool of health care professionals Inspire students to be successfully-employed, future health care professionals Brand healthcare competencies across the lifespan of the continuum Create an electronic student learning portfolio Align best practices quality measures across the model appropriate for each core component Integrate inter-professional learning opportunities (focus on teamwork) Provide community service learning opportunities for each core component 10/22/12
