Art Institute of Chicago The Art Institute of Chicago offers many programs geared towards the adult learner. Lectures Scholars explore a specific research topic in lectures relating to the Art Institute’s collections or exhibitions. These talks give greater insight to the audiences wishing to delve deeper into the history, context, conservation, or iconography of a given subject. Lifelong Learning at the Art Institute of Chicago offers a variety of entertaining and educational opportunities for older adults throughout the year, from short slideshow presentations at your local senior center to weeklong immersive explorations of the museum.

Art Institute of Chicago The AIC also presents concerts that allow interested learners the opportunity to experience concerts. Concerts Experience programs featuring music and art commentary highlighting works from the museum collection. Programs include concerts in the acoustical splendor of Fullerton Hall with organizations such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Those who have an interest in fine music will definitely appreciate the musical programs offered by the AIC. Lifelong learners can experience state of the art studio programs facilitate wide-ranging and creative experiences based on the collections or special exhibitions. 

Semester at Sea Semester at Sea is the only study abroad program that provides an inter-generational component to classroom learning. The Semester at Sea program is geared towards lifelong learners who wish to broaden their horizons. Lifelong learners are participants who desire to study with bright and enthusiastic undergraduate students from around the world and include retirees, professionals on leave, or simply adventurous travelers.

Semester at Sea Lifelong Learner Seminar Lifelong Learner Seminars are taught by the Academic Coordinator for Lifelong Learners–a faculty member who is dedicated to enriching the intellectual life of Lifelong Learners. Explorer Seminars Topics may include: cultural and historical information pertinent to upcoming ports Field Program Natural and Manmade Wonders Elements of Natural History Community Explorations and Home Stays First-Hand Interaction with Host Nationals Lifelong Learner Seminars are taught by the Academic Coordinator for Lifelong Learners–a faculty member who is dedicated to enriching the intellectual life of Lifelong Learners. Explorer Seminars are non-credit learning opportunities open to the entire shipboard community. Field Programs are Semester at Sea organized trips to popular cultural, historical, and recreational sites led by qualified and licensed local guides.
