The Southwest and the west

THE SOUTHWEST Desert modern day Arizona and New Mexico groups became known as the Pueblo peoples They lived in pueblos built on mesas (on the sides of steep canyons). They were built from adobe bricks of clay and straw. Navajo, another Southwest group, led mainly nomadic lives, but learned to adapt to the desert climate.

THE WEST located from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean Groups Plateau ( Nez Perce) Great Basin (Shoshone) California cultures (Chumash) People of the West relied on the rivers for food; Salmon was the most important part of their diet.
