Communication and Language, Reading and Writing Reception Curriculum Newsletter Term 2 Understanding of the World The children have become very interested in animals so our role play area will become a vets. The children will be learning about what animals need to survive and the different habitats they live in. Personal and Social Development Theme: Getting on and falling out. This term we will be focussing on working cooperatively to help a group, being a really good friend, keeping calm and overcoming feelings of anger and solving difficult problems with friends. Religious Education Our focus festivals and celebrations this term will be: Diwali (Hindu) and Christmas (Christian) The children will also be learning a little about Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night. Communication and Language, Reading and Writing We will be using stories that feature animals, including traditional tales, which encourage the children to remember and sequence events and also to retell, using story book language. They will also be using non fiction books to find out more about wild animals and animals as pets. Christmas Production - Our production this year is called ‘Scarecrow’s Christmas’ and will be performed for the school on the 13th December and to parents on Thursday, 15th December at 09.30. More details will follow soon. Physical Development The children will be building on their ball skills and learning to move like ‘The Snowman’ Road Safety Week is the 21st to 27th November Mathematics We will be creating and extending repeating patterns as well as the children becoming shape detectives, recognising, naming and describing 2d flat shapes, Thank you for your continued support.
