Solar Physics and the Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 August 21 COLLOQUIUM CSM-wide Colloquium All Departments Invited Prof. Frederick A. Ringwald California State University, Fresno Solar Physics and the Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 August 21 Abstract Fresno State Physics has a vigorous program in astronomy in astrophysics, with our Campus Observatory, our Remote Observatory in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and our projects with Hubble Space Telescope, other NASA spacecraft, and observatories worldwide. Students are welcome to participate in hands-on research on exoplanets, cataclysmic variables, flare stars, black holes, and starburst galaxies. This talk will discuss recent advances in solar physics, observations made during the recent total eclipse of the Sun, and prospective projects ahead. (Image of the Sun in eclipse by Prof. Ringwald) 3:00-4:30 p.m., Friday, September 22nd in McLane 162
