The Sign of Circumcision Genesis 17:9-14 | “…it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.” |Why Circumcision? |Symbolic Sign - Obedience - Male seed required to give life.

Circumcision of the Heart Colossians 2:11-12 “When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Colossians 3:1-10 | Vs 1-2 “Set Your Hearts – Set Your Minds” - Both actions require looking up! Hebrews 4:12 – Word of God is alive and active Luke 10:27 – Love the Lord with all your mind

Colossians 3:1-10 | Vs 5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature;” “To slay with continual stroke” Romans 6:6 – For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

The Flesh The flesh |A life lived before God without dependence on the Spirit |Flesh naturally aligns itself with the law because the one who wants to be governed by the law doesn’t live with dependence on Christ and in the Spirit

The Stop Sign | I Thessalonians 5:19 – Do not quench the Holy Spirit | God has called us to a life of radical change and growth that requires us to stretch our comfort zones and to stop playing it safe: to yield to the process of Sanctification! Sanctification Halted Receive the Holy Spirit Sanctification The unrealized life of power, change, overcoming, growing, freedom & usefulness for God

The Problem |We love OUR life more than God’s plans for our life! |We don’t like the convictions of the Holy Spirit therefore we shut Him out so we won’t have to be accountable for what God is trying to saying – we settle for mediocrity. |This leads to us rarely hearing from the Holy Spirit at all. |Can ultimately lead to falling away
