Basics Font = Times New Roman Size = 12 pt.
Margins Margins: ‘Normal’ But check to make sure that they are 2.54cm on all 4 sides.
Text Alignment Choose ‘ragged right’
Indentation Use the ‘tab’ key for the first line of every new paragraph: The tab should be about 2.5 cm. Not the space bar!!!!!
Indentation It should look something like this:
Double Spacing Leave an empty line between every line of text:
Double Spacing Check your settings!!!!!!!!!!!! Right click “normal” Click ‘modify’
Double Spacing Click ‘format’ Choose ‘paragraph’
Double Spacing Make sure all of these numbers are ‘0’

Submitting Your Essays You must give me two copies of your essays: The printed copy (in the format discussed in this presentation) An identical digital copy, emailed to me.
The digital copy All emailed essays must be in .pdf format: This ‘locks’ the formatting, so no matter what computer you display it on or print it from, it will be exactly as you saved it. Save your file as a .doc or .docx first! Then resave it as file type .pdf Attach the .pdf to an email, and send it to me Filename: Student Name – Student Number – Essay Number
The digital copy Filename: Student Name – Student Number – Essay Number Example: Main Timothy – 2016001001 – Essay 1 Notes: Family name first No commas No spaces in the student number
Email Conventions Please remember that emails are like letters in many ways. If the body of your email is blank and you send only the attached file, your grade will be reduced 10%.
Email Conventions Emails must contain: Greeting: Formal – “Dear Sir,” Less formal – “Dear Tim,” Informal – “Hi Tim,” or just “Hello,” or “Hi,”
