Learning Intentions You will learn about: The use of Desktop Publisher The advantages of using desktop publisher How to use desktop publisher to create simple business documents

Desktop Publisher The software you will be using is Publisher 2016. This software allows you to look at the page of a document as a whole and design the layout Use to create newspapers, leaflets, posters, brochures, business card and much more. Many of the skills learned in Word can be used with Publisher

Advantages of using DTP Although there are similarities to Word, using Publisher does have its advantages: More control over the way text is arranged and formatted DTP can be used to bring lots of different files/information together on one document Templates!

Using templates Using templates will save lots of time when producing your documents and there are thousands to choose from! Some of the templates include Advertisements Award Certificates Banners Forms Business Cards

What could be asked of you? There are a number of things you may be asked to produce, some examples from previous years include: Business Card Poster Certificate Compliments Card Wristband There are templates for all of these – but sometimes finding them can be difficult!

Key skills you should know Using templates Inserting text Formatting text – font, size, etc Changing Margins Insert graphics Headers and footers Borders and shading – including gradient fill
