4 Responsibilities Write emergency plans to protect public from chemical accidents Establish procedures to warn and evacuate public in case of emergency Provide the public with information about hazardous chemicals and accidental releases in communities Assist in the preparation of public reports of the release toxic waste in the air, water, and soil.

Some facts :) Introduced by James Jones in 1985 in House of Representatives Passed in 1986 by Ronald Reagan Established Local Emergency Planning Committees for communities The Local Emergency Planning Committees are governed by each state’s State Emergency Response Commision There are no limits on which chemicals can be used or disposed Facilities are only required to document and report the information
