3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. 1 Kings 19: 1-3a 1 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” 3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life.

Although we have seen mostly the positive and heroic sides of Elijah’s life and faith over the past few weeks… Today, we will look at how he emotionally drops from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows: depression & seeking death

Elijah in The Swamp of Sadness

“How to Get Depressed in 4 Easy Steps” * 1 Kings 19: 3b – 5a 1.) Wear yourself out 2.) Shut people out 3.) Focus on the negative 4.) Forget about God (His Word, past help, etc.)

but He doesn’t wish for us to STAY in the valley God acknowledges our difficulty coping with tough “seasons” and circumstances; but He doesn’t wish for us to STAY in the valley of depression. This hurts us & our witness for Him.

You’re most important work is yet to come! Just when Elijah thought his best days of life and ministry were behind him… God said, “Oh no! You’re most important work is yet to come! I need you to invest in the future generation that comes after you.”
