Third Grade Reading/Promotion A Plan for Monitoring School Districts Compliance State Board of Education February 18, 2003

Public School Student Progression (s , F.S.) As of , if a students substantial reading deficiency is not remediated by the end of grade 3, as demonstrated by scoring at Level 2 or higher on the FCAT, the student must be retained.

Public School Student Progression (s , F.S.) Good Cause Exemptions LEP students with <2 years of ESOL instruction Students with disabilities whose individual educational plan (IEP) indicates participation in FCAT/Sunshine State Standards are not appropriate

Public School Student Progression (s , F.S.) Good Cause Exemptions Students who demonstrate acceptable level of performance on an alternative standardized reading assessment approved by State Board of Education
