What’s the Frequency, MLO? We can make line plots. We can use line plots and bar graphs to find frequency.

Important Vocabulary Frequency- How often something happens. Typical- The result that happens with the most frequency. Line Plot- A graph that shows the frequency of results. Survey- A tool that is used to find out information about people or groups.

What would you like to do for class incentives? Rate our five most common class incentives 1-5. Did I not mention an incentive that you would like to do with the class? Please write your suggestion on a separate piece of paper to give to one of the teachers.

We will chart the incentive preferences of our class. First, we will make a line plot. Write the incentives on the x axis- in the same order that they appeared on the survey. We will chart the frequency of first choice with 5 x’s, second choices with 4 x’s, etc.

Answer These Questions…. What choices were the most frequent? What choices were the least frequent?

More Data About McKinley… What would you like to know about the other students or staff at McKinley? What is a good way to find out information about other people at McKinley?

Surveys A survey is something with questions that is used to get information from people. You completed a survey so that I could find out what your favorite activities were for incentive time. What would we like to know about other students at McKinley?

Homework Think of three things that you would like to know about students at McKinley or just in the MLO classroom. Complete your homework sheet. What are your three questions? What do you expect that the answers will be to your three questions? Extra Credit: Can you think of a way to predict what the answers will be to your questions without giving the survey to everyone?
