OBJECTIVE Find the distance between two points on a line using the Segment Postulate.

Question: What is the distance Between Houston and El Paso? What if I know that Houston – Austin = 162.7 mi Austin – El Paso = 577.0 mi.

SEGMENT ADDITION POSTULATE Let points A, B and C be collinear points. If B is between A and C, then AB + BC = AC* *AC defines distance, whereas AC defines a segment.
