Approach for Fluid
Fluid Navigation Only Meaning Homepages, Tiles, NavBar only Classic pages Due to in house skill set Due to issues with Classic+ Phased approach to implementing Fluid pages in the future
Gathering Information What is the “right” way to implement? Conferences PeopleSoft Info and YouTube My Oracle Support Community Quest and other User Groups Oracle on-site training
Gathering Information Analysis of delivered Homepages and Tiles Not all delivered functions are used Require deeper analysis of delivered functionality
Gathering Information Options discussed No Homepage or Tile (force user to use Favorites and NavBar) Two Homepages (one for FIN, one for SCM) with Tiles One Homepage with Tiles by job function Roles and Responsibilities Allow users the ability to personalize Homepages Tile configuration completed by Security Administrator Decision: One Homepage, Tiles by Job Function.
Gathering Requirements
Approach Goal was for each Tile to contain 80% of pages needed to perform job function Tiles to be secured by Role Page level security invoked from Role/Permission list Two fixed and required Tiles System Message- Content Reference to URL to internal PeopleSoft Help page Approvals/Worklist- Content Reference to Worklist (remember, no Fluid pages…)
Approach Who What When How SMEs/Business Analysts from various business areas What Defined Job Function/Tile name Defined pages to populate Navigation Collection (folder structure, order) Defined WorkCenter as Tile When One week timeframe! How Various methodologies, providing pages, role and navigation Consolidated spreadsheet turned over to Security Admin for configuration
On average, users have 4 Tiles. Most that a user has is 14. Approach Done in Excel Example from our Procurement SME This was sufficient for Security Admin to build Tiles On average, users have 4 Tiles. Most that a user has is 14.
Configuration Approach
Configuration Approach Configured by Security Administrator Published by Security Administrator Configured via Tile Wizard Configured ZX indicator to isolate “custom” Tiles Two fixed and required Tiles, all others are optional
Configuration Approach Basic Information Title- Job function defined by SME Data Source Information Image Nav Collection Collapsible Target Page Information Content References Secured by Role Tile Display Properties 1x1 Delivered Images Repository: Homepage only
Configuration Approach Only configured in lower environments Migrated to Production using ADS App Designer project to migrate portal registry structures (i.e., Content References, Folders and Related Definitions) For this project, a total of 411 objects were moved via the App Designer project. Finished product!!
Tips
Selecting Images Not user friendly to select delivered images Developed code to preview image when selecting
Selecting Images- Custom code
Selecting Images- Custom code
Selecting Images- Custom code
Selecting Images- Result of code
Selecting Images- Vote up Idea! MOSC Idea- Display Fluid Tile & Other Graphics on a Page
Testing SQL developed to identify users and access to Tiles Thorough unit testing based on SQL Thorough acceptance testing
Users adapted better than expected Loss of Breadcrumbs Major angst for users Mitigation Training on Global Search Find Object Navigation Custom query with menu navigation Users adapted better than expected
Post Go-live User Experience
Survey Gizmo Approximately one month after implementation, sent Survey Gizmo to all users. Quantitative questions to gather data to calculate cost savings Example Questions: How often do you use the PeopleSoft FSCM Tiles? How much time (in hours) do the PeopleSoft FSCM Tiles save you per week compared to how you navigated previously? How often do you find a commonly used page in a Tile? How easy is it to identify which Tile(s) are pertinent to your job functions?
