Metric Units of Measurement- is an alternative system of measurement used in most countries as well as the U.S. It uses prefixes such as kilo, milli, centi, etc.., and a 10 number scale.

Kilometer- is a metric unit of measurement for measuring length or distance.
Pounds and ounces- are customary units of measurement that measure weight 1 pound = 16oz
Kilogram- is a metric unit of measurement that measures mass
Second- is a customary unit of measurement that measures time Watch Clock
To Sum it up: Customary units of measurement are used in the United States It is based on a 12 number scale (exp:12 inches in a foot, 24 hours in a day, etc..) Metric units of measurement are used in other countries as well as the U.S. It is based on a 10 number scale (exp: 1 liter = 1,000 milliliters, and 1 kilogram = 1,000 grams, etc…) It includes words that contain prefixes (exp: kilo, milli, centi, etc…)
