Canadians called to action The Americans invited a pair of Canadian delegates to the Continental Congress… but no Canadians went. Why? Canadians called to action

Canadians called to action Americans call to fight against the British was ignored by English Canadians because: many of the English Canadians = recent arrivals from American Colonies (Loyalists) liked having their own land, so decided to play it safe and remain neutral Canadians called to action

Canadians called to action Americans call to fight against British was ignored by the French Canadiens because: Americans were much less tolerant than British (denounced French Law and the Catholic Church) Canadians called to action

13 Colonies invade Canada The Continental Congress (13 Colonies) approved a full- scale invasion of Canada in 1775 Loyalists (People who were loyal to Britain) immigrated to Canada Americans wanted to prevent Britain from using Canada as a base for strikes against the 13 Colonies In September 1775, the Americans attacked Montreal and Quebec City Assignment on article- Montreal and Quebec attack 13 Colonies invade Canada

1776: The Americans withdrew from Canada completely on July 2 2 days later the Continental Congress issued a Declaration of Independence. 13 Colonies no longer had “rebels” self-proclaimed government! End of the War

The Treaty of Paris (not to be confused with the Treaty of Paris) ends the American Revolution in 1783. Americans win their independence. Winner: U-S-A! U-S-A! Loser: Great Britain. The entire Ohio Valley was handed over to the Americans. The border was drawn at the great lakes Treaty of Paris (1763): Ends the Seven Years War. New France to Britain. Winner Great Britain. Loser France Treaty of Paris (1783): Ends the American Revolution. Americans win their independence. Winner USA. Loser Great Britain. Treaty of Paris 1783
