Ohio’s Graduation Requirements for Class of 2018 and beyond A student must earn a cumulative passing score of 18 or more points, using seven end-of course state tests. The seven tests include: Algebra 1 and Geometry English 1 and English 2 US History and US Government Biology To ensure students are well rounded, they must earn a minimum of Four points in Math Four points in English Six points across Science and Social Studies Four additional points
Performance Level of Points Students will earn these scores on each end-of-course exam: Advanced 5 points Accelerated 4 points Proficient 3 points Basic 2 points Limited 1 point Students could potentially earn a maximum of 35 points!
Do students with disabilities take the end-of-course exams? Students with disabilities must participate in state assessments. The IEP team may exempt a student with disabilities from consequences of not being proficient on end-of-course tests.
Students may re-take an end of course exam Sophomores may be retaking: ELA 1, Algebra 1 Juniors may be retaking: ELA 1, ELA 2, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, American History end-of -course exams on January 5-13, 2017, if they have earned 2 points or less on these tests. We want to give students every possible opportunity to reach 18 or more points. A student will use the higher score of any end-of-course test taken for meeting graduation requirements. These points will appear on each student’s transcript.
