“Results Season” Coaching

“Results Season” 4-8 weeks before STAAR Testing Prime time to FINISH STRONG – when make sure we are leveraging strategies that work towards urgency and individual student focus. This is a short game, a sprint to the finish, not our primary long-run talent development strategy Great time to PAUSE on 30-60 min mtgs and REPLACE with highly- effective, quick, targeted, results-oriented strategies.

Data Huddles WHO: Vertical Team or Grade Team WHEN: End of the day, for 5-10 minutes HOW: All teachers circle up in the hallway with exit tickets. Round robin, share the following: 1) overall student mastery, 2) TOP key misconception, 3) Which group of students to focus on to close the gap (i.e. SpEd, Masters, etc.)?

Individual Student Tracking Probe WHO: With an individual teacher WHEN: Any break between classes, before school, or after school HOW: Stand with the teacher in front of his/her tracker in classroom. Ask targeted questions about individual students. 1) What percent of students are on-track to meet their growth goals? Which ones are not? Why not? 2) Point out the students who have made the most improvement this year. Why? Point out the students who have made the least improvement this year. Why? 3) What area will you focus on for the next 3 days? Which group of students will you target?
