Write an essay linked to a book we are reading. Junior Cert ASSESSMENTS Date: Objectives Write an essay linked to a book we are reading. Introduce ways to improve your writing, both before and after your first draft. Warm –up Read out your plans.

A new way of planning for people to try write your descriptive essay Splitting a short story into five sections and asking questions is a way for you to plan. Read the sample sheet and then write your plan again. This time add: Exposition Rising action Climax Falling action Resolution And follow the 13 instructions to write your descriptive essay

Write a descriptive essay set in World War Two Germany. Exposition (ideas): Establish the setting Describe setting Describe the situation Rising Action (ideas): What problem does the character (s) face? What problem is trying to be solved? What tense moment is taking place? Climax (ideas): Describe the crucial moment in the story What has brought the character(s) to this point in the story? Falling Action (ideas): How is the crucial moment solved? How is the tension eased? What is happening to the character(s) after the crucial moment? Resolution: Describe how the story comes to a suitable end. Leave the reader satisfied with the end 200 words
