2014 Employee Engagement Survey Who is being surveyed: All RR & SM Hospital Staff RNPH patient care-related staff Clinic Staff – all FPG & DGSOM patient care-related clinic staff Who is not being asked to participate: Academics: Faculty MDs Residents, Researchers/PostDocs, Students Clinics joining UCLA Health in last 4 months Admin Float Pool staff This survey focuses on the opinions of staff and not intended for academics/physicians or academics.

2014 Employee Engagement Survey U Matter Theme Online Survey – Wilshire Center HR Computers available Survey accessible on any computer with Internet access 250 hard copy surveys (English & Spanish) available for those without computer access (EVS & Nutrition) 47 multiple choice + 2 open-ended questions (includes 9 Culture of Safety and 12 magnet questions) Core survey takes ~15 minutes 19 additional Nursing Magnet questions – for RN’s in direct patient care 50% or more time We want the U Matter theme to become synonymous with the survey and emphasize the importance of the employee voice. Strongly encourage online survey completion

Employee Engagement Survey Employee Opinion Surveys were conducted in: 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 Morehead Associates - 2006 and 2010 Press-Ganey acquired Morehead Associates in Dec 2012 Benefit of National Benchmarks UCLA Health past survey results Comparisons of Patient Satisfaction and Employee Engagement Engaged Employees  Greater Patient Satisfaction 2007 and 2009 were survey administered internally

2014 Employee Engagement Survey INDIVIDUAL E-MAIL INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE Invitations will be sent on Monday,10/6 with reminders each Monday during the survey PASSWORDS will be used for the first time: (2-digit birth day +2-digit birth year + 9-digit ID) Survey results automatically associated with reporting area as shown in EDB or from recent requests Survey allows only one completion per invited staff member Press Ganey Help Desk on point to assist with survey access Individual invitations and passwords help to control the population surveyed and will provide us better data integrity.

2014 Employee Engagement Survey All Responses are Confidential and Anonymous Important to emphasize that all results go directly to Press Ganey in Charlotte, NC No one from UCLA Health will ever see anyone’s individual responses Survey Reports generated for areas with 5 or more responses Less than 5 responses will be rolled up to the next level in the hierarchy

Survey Incentives 10 iPad Minis raffled weekly Complete survey early to be eligible to win each week First 20 areas to reach 100% completion will receive a Staff Lunch Party U Matter stickers will be distributed by Directors, Managers & HR to remind staff to complete the survey and to underscore the value of staff opinions Raffle winners will be drawn by Press Ganey

2014 Employee Engagement Survey Survey Results UCLA Health Senior Leadership receive results and overall analysis early December Organizational Results presented in January Supervisors with 5 or more responses will receive password access to view their unit results in January All managers will be asked to attend training and submit an Action Plan for their work unit(s) as required for the 2015 CEMRP January Management Forum CEMRP Incentive Program

2014 Employee Engagement Survey Why you should encourage participation: The voice of our employees is valued at UCLA Health Survey participation and results are an important step in our Nursing Magnet journey Participation rate is a factor for the 2015 CEMRP 30 survey respondents will be new owners of iPad Minis UCLA Health strives to: Provide the best patient care and experience Be an Employer of Choice CEMRP = incentives Employer of Choice for our staff members We not only want to be known for the excellent care provided to our patients – We want to be known as “an employer of choice”!!
